How Dial Your Course estimates the hours a course actually asks of a student, and what it does with the number.
A demonstration, using AVC 100 as the sample course. In the tool, this list is read from your own Canvas export. Adjust any estimate: you know your students, the tool does not. Each module’s total is written into that module’s introduction, so students know the time commitment before they begin.
The three build assignments carry the outcome. They are set at three hours each, which assumes a first-time Illustrator user completes an 18 by 24 poster in that time. Adjust them and the budget responds.
Changing the course profile shows how differently a three-credit studio behaves. The rule is constant, credits times 40, but the box is not.
