Final Portfolio Presentation

This assignment measures Module Objective 8.4, which supports Course Competency 8.

Objectives

• 8.4 Present three portfolio projects in a two-minute recorded video, stating the goal, your role, one key decision and the outcome of each. (Course Competency 8)

Overview

This is the culminating project of the course: a polished two-minute video presenting your portfolio to a potential employer or client. It represents you when you are not in the room. It evidences Course Competencies 7 (communicating with clients) and 8 (portfolio for online and printed presentation).

30 points, Projects. About 3.5 hours.

Instructions

1. Review the critique on your midterm presentation. This version is more polished, more concise and more targeted.
2. Choose at least three projects; show process work on at least one.
3. Write bullet points for each: the goal, your role, one key decision and the outcome. Use them as a guide, not a script.
4. Set up your recorder: neutral background, light in front of you, camera at eye level.
5. Record a two-minute presentation: introduce yourself briefly, walk through the work, and end with your portfolio address and how to contact you.
6. Watch it before you upload. Would you hire this person?
7. Post the link to Discord by noon the day before the deadline and leave three comments by the deadline, each naming a specific project and one strength.

VR Portfolio Room Option

You may record your presentation as a walkthrough of a VR portfolio room built in the STEAMworks XR lab, a strong fit for animation and game students. Introduce yourself on camera at the start and close on camera with your portfolio address. The room replaces the standard screen recording; it does not add to it.

The rubric is the same for both formats and grades the presentation, not the room. The standard screen recording is the equal path that needs no lab visit. Reel footage may include drone footage flown under the rules on the Updated Portfolio page.

Lab work is booked through STEAMworks and begins with the STEAMworks safety orientation. STEAMworks supplies the materials, including NFC tags, wood and leather, at no cost to you. Booking windows and orientation times are posted in Canvas Announcements in the first week of the term.

Gemini may help you write a production plan or the text of an AR or VR piece. It never designs, and no AI-generated images are used in any option.

Example

Watch two former students’ presentations: Example Final Presentation 1 (YouTube) and Example Final Presentation 2 (YouTube). Both run longer than two minutes; study how they describe the work.

Accessibility

Caption your video. Start with automatic captions (YouTube Studio Subtitles, Premiere Pro Speech to Text, Google Vids or Meet), then read every line and correct names, software terms and timing by hand. Automatic captions alone do not meet the requirement. Upload the corrected caption file (.srt from YouTube Studio or Premiere Pro) with your video.

Submission

Submit the video link (and the MP4 if you used Google Drive) with the corrected caption file. Record with OBS Studio or any recorder you set up in Technology Setup. Upload the video to YouTube with your Maricopa account as Unlisted, or to Google Drive shared with Maricopa, and submit the link. If your account cannot upload to YouTube (some accounts for students under 18 cannot), use Google Drive and add your corrected caption file under Manage caption tracks.
