Mock Job Interview

This assignment measures Module Objective 7.2, which supports Course Competency 7.

Objectives

• 7.2 Answer six unseen interview questions on camera, each in one to two minutes, using the STAR method where it fits. (Course Competency 7)

Overview

This mock interview uses a slide deck with one question per slide, so you manage your own pacing as in a live video interview. You do not see the questions in advance.

Instructions

1. Choose a specific posting before you begin and keep your portfolio open on a second screen, tablet or phone.
2. Start your recorder with your face visible.
3. Open the deck: Design Self Promotion Mock Interview (Canva). Each slide has one question. Answer it, then advance. Do not rehearse the questions first.
4. Answer each of the six questions in one to two minutes, using the STAR method where the question asks about a past experience.
5. Watch your recording and note your pacing, eye contact and one answer you would change.
6. Write two or three sentences: which answer was strongest, and what you will do differently in a real interview.

Accessibility

Caption your video. Start with automatic captions (YouTube Studio Subtitles, Premiere Pro Speech to Text, Google Vids or Meet), then read every line and correct names, software terms and timing by hand. Automatic captions alone do not meet the requirement.

Submission

Submit the link to your recording and your written reflection. Record with OBS Studio or any recorder you set up in Technology Setup. Upload the video to YouTube with your Maricopa account as Unlisted, or to Google Drive shared with Maricopa, and submit the link. If your account cannot upload to YouTube (some accounts for students under 18 cannot), use Google Drive and add your corrected caption file under Manage caption tracks.
