The final portfolio presentation is approaching. This check-in gives you peer feedback on your current portfolio before the final push, and practice giving useful critique the way professionals do.
Learning Objectives
By completing this assignment you will be able to:
- Self-assess your portfolio against professional standards
- Give specific, constructive critique on classmates’ portfolios
- Identify priority improvements before the final presentation
Steps
- Make sure your portfolio currently has at least 5 projects with a description for each covering goals and process.
- Post your portfolio URL to Discord (#avc248-design-self-promotion).
- Give feedback on at least 3 classmates’ portfolios. Be specific: mention a specific project, a specific strength, and one concrete suggestion.
- Post your portfolio URL and screenshots of the feedback you gave here in Canvas.
Example
Good portfolio critique is specific and actionable:
✗ Not helpful: “Looks great! Love your work!”
✓ Helpful: “The 3D product animation is your strongest piece, it should be first. Your description for the brand identity project doesn’t explain the brief. What was the client? What problem were you solving? That context makes the work make sense.”
