Midterm In-Process Portfolio Presentation
This assignment measures Module Objective 4.1, which supports Course Competency 8.
Objectives
- 4.1 Present four portfolio projects in a two to three minute recording, stating the goal, your role, one key decision and the outcome of each. (Course Competency 8)
Overview
This is the main assignment of the first half of the term. You record a two to three minute video presenting your in-progress portfolio to a real or imagined employer, and use the critique to plan the second half.
30 points, Projects. About 4 hours.
Instructions
- Choose at least four projects. At least one shows process work (sketches, storyboards or a design brief).
- Write bullet points for each piece: the goal, your role, one key decision and the outcome. Use them as a guide, not a script.
- Make sure all the work is reachable from one URL.
- Set up your recorder with your face visible in a corner and your portfolio on the main screen. Light should be in front of you.
- Record a two to three minute presentation. Speak as a professional, not a student, and do not apologize for your work.
- Post the link to Discord by noon the day before the deadline and leave three critique comments by the deadline, each naming a specific project and one concrete change.
Example
Watch two presentations by former students: Example Portfolio Presentation 1 (YouTube) and Example Portfolio Presentation 2 (YouTube). Both run longer than this assignment allows; study how they talk about the work.
Accessibility
Caption your video. Start with automatic captions (YouTube Studio Subtitles, Premiere Pro Speech to Text, Google Vids or Meet), then read every line and correct names, software terms and timing by hand. Automatic captions alone do not meet the requirement.
Submission
Submit the link to your presentation and screenshots or links of your three comments. Record with OBS Studio or any recorder you set up in Technology Setup. Upload the video to YouTube with your Maricopa account as Unlisted, or to Google Drive shared with Maricopa, and submit the link. If your account cannot upload to YouTube (some accounts for students under 18 cannot), use Google Drive and add your corrected caption file under Manage caption tracks.

- Hard close: Friday, March 12, 12:00 p.m. Work submitted after the deadline and before the hard close loses 10%. Nothing is accepted after the hard close.
