Resume 3rd Draft
This assignment measures Module Objective 3.2, which supports Course Competency 2.
Objectives
- 3.2 Develop three business card directions and a designed resume from your identity design brief. (Course Competency 2)
Overview
Your content is in place after two rounds of feedback. This draft begins the design pass: the resume becomes part of your identity system, using the type, color and layout decisions in your Identity Design Brief, so it matches your business card, cover letter and leave-behind.
10 points, Process Work. About 3 hours.
Instructions
- Apply the feedback on your 2nd draft before you change the design.
- Open your Identity Design Brief and use the same typefaces, colors and wordmark.
- Rebuild the resume in InDesign (or Illustrator) on a letter-size page with even margins and a grid.
- Set a hierarchy with paragraph styles: your name largest, section headings second, job titles third, body text 9 to 11 point.
- Keep every word as live text, never inside an image, and keep a single-column reading order so applicant tracking systems read it correctly.
- Check contrast: body text must be dark on a light background.
- Print it once at 100% and proofread on paper.
- Export a tagged PDF.
Example
Check: does the resume look like it belongs with your business card? Can a reader find your name, your most recent role and your portfolio link in five seconds? Is every section heading the same size, weight and color?
Accessibility
Make the document readable by a screen reader: use real heading styles (Heading 1 and Heading 2 in Google Docs or Word, paragraph styles in InDesign), keep text contrast high, add alt text to every image or logo, and export a tagged PDF (InDesign: Create Tagged PDF; Word or Google Docs: keep document structure tags on when you save as PDF).
Submission
Upload the tagged PDF. Your instructor returns feedback within five days for the 4th draft.
