Business Card
This assignment measures Module Objective 3.2, which supports Course Competency 2.
Objectives
- 3.2 Develop three business card directions and a designed resume from your identity design brief. (Course Competency 2)
Overview
A business card is often the first physical piece of your brand someone holds. It has to say who you are, what you do and how to reach you in 2 by 3.5 inches. You will develop three directions before committing to one.
10 points, Process Work. About 3 hours.
Instructions
- Review your Identity Design Brief; the card uses the same typefaces, colors and visual language.
- Include your first and last name, your specialty or title, a professional email, and your portfolio address (leave off https://www.). A phone number is optional.
- Sketch three directions on paper and photograph the sketches.
- Build all three digitally in Illustrator or InDesign at 2 by 3.5 inches with bleed. Do not use Photoshop for print layout.
- Set type with care: name and title 9 to 11 point, contact details 7 to 9 point, aligned to guides.
- Gemini may give written feedback on this work. It never designs: every mark, layout, color and type decision is your own.
- Post all three as PNGs to Discord by noon the day before the deadline and ask which direction is strongest. Comment on three classmates’ cards, naming a specific choice in each.

Accessibility
Add alt text to every image you post in Discord: click the pencil icon on the attachment before you send it and write one or two sentences on what matters in the image. Do not begin with “image of.”
Submission
Upload the photo of your sketches and all three directions as print PDFs.
