Overview
This assignment shows that you can use Gemini well and check it. You write and revise a prompt, verify what it tells you, and state your own position on AI in your field with evidence.
10 points, Process Work. About 3 hours.
Instructions
- Sign in to Gemini with your Maricopa account. Check the account picture in the top right corner shows your Maricopa account.
- Write a prompt for a real task in your field. Revise it twice using role, task, context and format. Write one sentence on what changed in the answer each time.
- Choose three factual claims from Gemini’s best answer. Check each one against a source you open yourself (not another AI answer). Record the source that confirmed or corrected each claim.
- Record one of the three checks as a 60 to 90 second narrated screen recording that shows you opening the source and comparing it with Gemini’s claim.
- Write a position statement of 150 to 200 words on using AI in your creative field. Cite one source on why employers expect AI skills and one on a real cost of AI.
- Add your first AI-use log row: tool, what you asked, and what you kept, changed or rejected.
- Post your position (two or three sentences) to Discord by noon the day before the deadline and reply to three classmates who see it differently.
Accessibility
Caption your video. Start with automatic captions (YouTube Studio Subtitles, Premiere Pro Speech to Text, Google Vids or Meet), then read every line and correct names, software terms and timing by hand. Automatic captions alone do not meet the requirement. Use real heading styles in your Google Doc.
Submission
Submit one Google Doc (shared with Maricopa) with your prompt and two revisions, the three checks with sources, the link to your recording, your position statement and your AI-use log row.
