Week 1 · about 6 hours
Module 0: Getting Started
Instructor notes (instructor view only)
- Before the term: confirm the course channel on the Digital Media Arts Discord and post the invite in a Canvas announcement. Confirm the section is on the district Adobe Creative Cloud list.
- Week 1: welcome everyone in Discord, reply to each introduction, and message anyone without a Discord introduction by Wednesday.
- Grade Technology Setup within 48 hours. Missing software gets a direct fix, not a deduction, on the first try. Students who cannot use Discord submit through a Canvas discussion instead.
- Privately ask each student what tools and assistive technology they use; refer accommodations to Disability Resources and Services and approve an equivalent recorder where needed.
- In the welcome announcement and video, state the facts in AI in This Course.
Build list before this module opens
- Set the Discord office hours day and time and post them in the welcome announcement.
- Verify the Thinking with Type edition against the GCC Library reserve copy.
- Create and caption the video: Welcome from your instructor (3 minutes, captioned)
- Create and caption the video: How this course works: the schedule, the noon rule and the Discord critique (5 minutes, captioned)
- Create and caption the video: Compiling your Discord post and comments in Miro (3 minutes, captioned)
