Syllabus Checker

Submit your syllabus no later than the Friday of the first week of your class start date. Every syllabus must follow the MCCCD Syllabus Standards. One syllabus per submission. Combined courses must list every class, including class numbers.

Step 1 · Your course info

Includes courses with separate lecture and lab sections. Combined syllabi must list all classes, including class numbers.
Typically the level-one / introductory course. Format: PREFIX###-#####
Confirm your credits, load hours, periods, and activity type on the CCTA website. Total student hours = credits × 40 always. Load hours change the split not the total.

Step 2 · Attach your syllabus

PDF (.pdf) or Word (.doc.docx). Max 100 MB. Skip this if you use Simple Syllabus / Syllabus+ and use the field below instead.
In Canvas, submit your syllabus in editor mode. Two links appear (with confetti). Use the second one, titled “Syllabus PDF URL.”

Step 3 · Submit

You will get a reply right away: a thank-you if your syllabus is complete, or a short list of what to add before you resubmit.

  • RSI, regular and substantive interaction · online and hybrid courses only. The statement describing instructor-facilitated discussions, timely feedback, interactive presentations, peer collaboration, and projects

Both statements must appear exactly as approved, not paraphrased. The approved wording depends on your credits, load hours, and activity type, so confirm those on the CCTA website before you submit. Department reference: approved seat-hours language ↓

On the approved language: the seven approved statements are stored in this page, transcribed verbatim and against the department reference sheet which is always the authority. They are stored rather than fetched on purpose: seven paragraphs that change about once a year do not justify an API integration, and a browser page has nowhere safe to keep a credential. When the department revises the doc, this page must be updated to match. A production version with a server would read the doc directly and this caveat would go away.
