Devan Does Travel Stuff gap-year planner

What it is

Devan is a gap-year travel planner built for one young traveler. It gathers the pieces of a year abroad into a single page: an interactive map of home-base countries, a savings plan, and a work-exchange model where a few hours of help a day earns a free bed and often meals. Each country card carries its own visa rules, work options, cost of living, study-abroad fit, transport, language, and weather.

Who it’s for

A young person planning a gap year abroad. It is a personal build, tailored to one traveler and the specific paths that fit their goals, from ski patrol to expedition medic to study abroad.

The goal

Make a year abroad feel affordable and fundable rather than out of reach. The planner is honest about the money side, setting a realistic savings target first, then showing three concrete ways to travel for close to free: work-exchange, a legal working-holiday route, and study abroad for credit.

How it works

Built as a single page with a Leaflet map, filterable country cards, and callouts that walk through the plan step by step. It links out to real platforms, official visa pages, and school programs, and ends with a starter checklist. The whole thing stays a self-contained guide the traveler can open and act on directly.
