Discussion Prompt
Use AI to improve your resume, then tell us honestly whether it helped.
Instructions
- Read this article first: Using AI to Craft the Perfect Resume.
- Important: Remove all personal identifying information (phone, email, address) before pasting anything into an AI tool.
- Take one challenging section of your resume and put it into Claude (claude.ai) or another AI. Ask it to improve wording, strengthen action verbs, or target it to a specific job posting.
- Compare your original and AI-generated version side by side.
- Post on Discord: a 5-8 sentence reflection. Was the output better or worse? Did the AI make errors? Did it capture your voice? Would you use it again? Include before/after screenshots if possible.
- Comment on 3 classmates’ reflections.
- Submit a PDF of your AI-revised resume and a screenshot of your Discord reflection here.
Example
“I asked Claude to rewrite my project descriptions with stronger action verbs. The output was more polished, it caught some passive phrasing. But it also made me sound like I worked on a much larger team than I did, and it lost specificity about the software I used. I kept about 60% of the AI version and rewrote the rest. It was most useful as a starting point, not a final answer.”
