Technology Login Challenge Part 1

Module 1 , Getting Started

Description

This course uses several digital tools for communication, portfolio sharing, and screen recording. Before anything else, you need to confirm that all required platforms are set up on your computer. This assignment gets all the technology out of the way so you can focus on the work.

Learning Objectives

By completing this assignment you will be able to:

  • Set up and verify access to all required course tools
  • Introduce yourself to the class community on Discord
  • Populate your Behance portfolio with at least 3 projects
  • Confirm your LinkedIn profile is active with a photo and education

Steps

  1. Take a screenshot on your computer (Mac | Windows).
  2. Miro, Sign up at miro.com/signup. Watch this tutorial on compiling screenshots into one frame.
  3. Adobe Creative Cloud, Log in with your Maricopa MEID. Do NOT start a free trial. Details at gccaz.edu/technology-help/adobe-students. Download any software you need (After Effects, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Screenshot the Creative Cloud app.
  4. OBS Studio, Download at obsproject.com/download. Just install it and take a screenshot, full setup is next week.
  5. Behance, Log in at behance.com. Add at least 3 of your strongest projects with a title and description for each. Screenshot your profile.
  6. LinkedIn, Log in at linkedin.com. Add a professional headshot and fill in your name and education. Screenshot.
  7. Discord, Join the GCC Digital Media Arts server: discord.gg/fyzAXNS4yF and find #avc248-design-self-promotion. Change your server nickname to your school name. Post an introduction with: how you like to be addressed, your degree program, one thing you want to learn this class, and a screenshot of your Behance. Comment on 4 classmates’ introductions.
  8. Canvas, Add pronouns and a photo to your Canvas profile at learn.maricopa.edu/profile/settings.
  9. Compile all screenshots into a single Miro frame. Export as JPG and upload here.

Your instructor will share an example compiled Miro board on Discord during Week 1.

How to Submit

Upload your compiled Miro JPG here. It must include: 5 Discord screenshots (intro + 4 comments), Adobe Creative Cloud, OBS, Behance, and LinkedIn.
