Module 5 · Your Own Brand

Your Brand Step 5: Final Logo

Objectives

  1. 5.3 Design a finished mark, typeface and palette, each justified against the client’s audience and goals. (Course Competency 4; Create)

This assignment measures Module Objective 5.3, which supports Course Competency 4.

Overview

Deliver the finished mark the way a client receives it.

Points: 30, Projects

Estimated time: about 3 hours 30 minutes

Due: Thursday, April 15 at noon; post to Discord by Wednesday, April 14 at noon

Instructions

Submit one PDF containing:

  1. The logo in full color on white
  2. The logo in black only
  3. The logo reversed, white on a dark ground
  4. The logo at small size (0.5 inch), to prove it holds up
  5. Your typeface and palette with values
  6. Your audience and goals statement, revised from Step 4

No screens, no gradients, no stretched type.

Deliverable option: fabricated logo mark

You may also produce the mark as a physical piece, laser-cut or engraved in wood or acrylic at the STEAMworks Center. Book lab time through STEAMworks and complete its safety orientation before your session; STEAMworks supplies the materials. Plan the session within the time estimated for this step. Add a photograph of the finished piece, taken in even light, as the last page of the PDF.

If you are studying online or cannot reach the lab, the equal path is a digital mockup: place the mark on a photograph or outline of a wood or acrylic sign. Every path is graded with the same rubric, which scores the design of the mark, not the machine or the material. The PDF alone can earn full marks, and the option earns no extra points.

Turning it in

  1. Post your work to #avc183-graphic-design-1 on Discord as PNG or JPG, with alt text, by noon the day before the due date.
  2. Comment on three classmates’ posts. Each comment names one design principle (or, in Module 4, one brand rule) and points to where it appears in the work.
  3. Screenshot your post and your three comments and compile them on one Miro board.
  4. Submit the Miro screenshot and the PDF to Canvas by noon on the due date.

AI use

No AI use for the mark. Log “No AI used.” Record every use in your AI-use log. Gemini is used only with your Maricopa account.
