Module 5 · Your Own Brand
Your Brand Step 2: Fifty Sketches
Objectives
- 5.2 Generate at least 50 hand thumbnail concepts and refine the strongest four so each works in black alone. (Course Competency 4; Create)
This assignment measures Module Objective 5.2, which supports Course Competency 4.
Overview
Volume first. Quick, rough concepts explore far more ideas than careful drawings.
Instructions
- In an unlined sketchbook, draw at least 50 thumbnail concepts for the mark, 9 to 12 per page. Do not spend long on any one.
- Aim for real range: letterform marks, symbols, combinations, abstract shapes. Fifty versions of one idea is one idea.
- Photograph each page flat, full frame, in even light.
Turning it in
- Post your work to #avc183-graphic-design-1 on Discord as PNG or JPG, with alt text, by noon the day before the due date.
- Comment on three classmates’ posts. Each comment names one design principle (or, in Module 4, one brand rule) and points to where it appears in the work.
- Screenshot your post and your three comments and compile them on one Miro board.
- Submit the Miro screenshot and your sketch pages as one file to Canvas by noon on the due date.
