Module 2 · Word/Meaning
Word/Meaning Part 4: Final Designs
Objectives
- 2.3 Construct five vector designs that express meaning through placement, scale, and positive and negative space. (Course Competency 4; Create)
- 2.4 Revise your designs in response to peer critique and justify each final design in one sentence that names the principle it uses. (Course Competency 6; Evaluate)
This assignment measures Module Objectives 2.3 and 2.4, which support Course Competencies 4 and 6.
Overview
Refine the five designs from critique and show the process that produced them.
Instructions
Do not submit this part until you have feedback on Part 3.
- Revise all five designs from the feedback you received. Vector type, black and white, lowercase unless one or two letters need a capital.
- Place all five on one Miro board with the 8 by 8 page outline showing.
- Under each design, write one sentence that names the design principle it uses (for example, “Scale contrast makes shrink read as diminishing”).
- Export one PDF, 8 by 8 inches, one design per page, High Quality Print.
Turning it in
- Post your work to #avc183-graphic-design-1 on Discord as PNG or JPG, with alt text, by noon the day before the due date.
- Comment on three classmates’ posts. Each comment names one design principle (or, in Module 4, one brand rule) and points to where it appears in the work.
- Screenshot your post and your three comments and compile them on one Miro board.
- Submit the Miro screenshot, the PDF, and your five justification sentences to Canvas by noon on the due date.
AI use
No AI use for the designs. Log “No AI used,” or log any Gemini feedback you asked for on your sentences. Record every use in your AI-use log. Gemini is used only with your Maricopa account.
