How to get qualified (one certificate, done locally)
You do not need a four-year degree to start. What you actually need is one nationally accredited (NCCA) personal training certificate. NASM and ACE are the two big names, and you can study online and self-paced, then take a single exam.
See the local Denver program ›The easy local path: Community College of Denver runs an accredited NASM program, just three courses (8 credits). You earn college credit and sit for the NASM exam at the end. Close to home, a real credential, and short. (The two national certs direct: NASM and ACE.)
The insider move, since you already work there: ask about Life Time Academy, Life Time’s own program that trains and certifies you from inside. One honest heads-up: some Life Time trainer roles prefer a degree in a related field, so the surest start is to get certified (or go through their academy) and come on as an entry-level trainer first.
If you ever want a full in-person college version, Mom’s college (GCC in Arizona) has an accredited personal training certificate you could finish in a semester or two, though that one means moving for a bit.
Starting a path is not signing your life away. Almost nobody keeps one career forever. The only thing that keeps you stuck is choosing nothing.
