Digital Media Arts
Currently undergoing a contracted redesign, grounding every module in retention research and embedding Student Services (Advising, GCC Cares, Tutoring, Disability Services) directly into the learning experience. The redesign applies belonging, self-efficacy, and early alert frameworks to this high-enrollment, high-stakes entry point, and incorporates AI-assisted course design workflows throughout. Intended as a replicable model for wellness-embedded instructional design across the department.
New course, currently a blank slate. Content will be migrated and adapted from AVC 181 Graphic Design I. Includes a vibe coding project.
Fundamentals of user experience design applied to mobile, web, and spatial computing interfaces, with emphasis on human-centered design process, prototyping, and professional presentation. Prerequisites: grade of C or better in AVC 183 or permission of Instructor.
Prepares Digital Media Arts students for professional entry through portfolio development, personal branding, and job search strategy. Currently serving as the pilot course for Render, a student-facing AI career readiness tool being developed in partnership with GCC Career Services.
